After extensive research, farm equipment creators have designed a versatile grapple that efficiently accomplishes user’s everyday tasks.
The hydraulic grapple rake is mounted on a dirt bucket, either by a bolt-on or welding method, and gives tractors the ability to pick up both heavy-sized loads and small materials with the same tool.
An Adaptable Tool
Dusty L. Weiss, of Construction Associates of Spokane Inc., bought the grapple for the company’s tractor last June, and is a strong advocate of it’s ability to accomplish the company’s everyday tasks.
“I recently moved debris from the company’s property,” Weiss said. “To move the material myself would have taken an unwarranted amount of time; the bucket grapple easily allowed me to accomplish this task.”
Whether the task is agriculture or demolition oriented, Weiss advises the use of the bucket grapple for those looking for an economically efficient solution.
Yet, Weiss had a few suggestions for improvement of the bucket grapple design.
His attachment is 36 inches across and weighs approximately 200 lbs., an attribute which hinders the amount of weight feasibly carried per load. “Most tractor users find themselves engaging in more than they can handle,” Weiss said. “By lessening the weight of the attachment, you could pick up larger loads and improve productivity.”
New and Improved
AnBo Manufacturing, a company based out of Colville, WA., has recently created a new bucket grapple that can carry the weight a user desires – with poise and simplicity.
Duane S. Kaler of Chattaroy, WA, purchased his AnBo bucket grapple in April 2009, and said he is impressed by its usefulness.
“We recently bought a 41-acre spread of land and were in need of a grapple that could efficiently remove hay, brush and other small materials,” Kaler said.
For these tasks, Kaler uses his grapple as an attachment on his tractor’s 72-inch bucket – bolted in place.
“Though I find the bolt-on method convenient for removal purposes, I don’t think I could ever take it off,” Kaler added. “It’s just so handy.”
The AnBo Bucket Grapple is available in most bucket sizes, and is branded with forward-raking tines that create the option for raking to be done in both a forward and backward motion.
“No more inefficient manual labor for me – The AnBo Bucket Grapple works great for a variety of large and small tasks!”
Now Built for Brawn
One distinctive attribute of the AnBo bucket Grapple is that it’s composed of AR400, a steel nearly two times the Brinnell rating as that of T1, making the attachment lighter in weight, yet superior in strength. Also, the tensile strength, now 50 percent greater than T1, allows the grapple to lift heavier loads without bending the tines.
Jim Gurnea, owner of 160 acres of land in Ione, WA., said this steel is crucial in making the AnBo Bucket Grapple so beneficial and unequalled.
“Anytime you can lessen weight while maintaining strength it’s beneficial,” Gurnea said. “Fortunately, the steel AnBo designs their Bucket Grapple with permits both.”
Gurnea, who formerly worked for a steel company, said the AnBo Bucket Grapple is precisely what a farmer is interested in. “AR400 is a ‘tougher steel’ for the manufacturer to use, yet, more beneficial because helps develop a tool that is dually light weight and can hold items securely,” Gurnea said. “It’s a great idea to have a hydraulic cylinder – less mass to work with!”
Furthermore, Gurnea said he has no need for a strapping or chain system with this grapple. It holds whatever I may be picking up in there nice and snug.
“Ultimately, whether it’s the middle of November or March, the AnBo Bucket Grapple is a beneficial tool to own,” Gurnea said.
