You will never have to purchase fertilizer again if you have a compost container. Recycling your plant and food waste is a terrific free way to condition your soil and it can be free if you compost. All it might cost is the one time purchase of a container, or if you are handy you can even make one.
Composting might be the best way to get free fertilizer but not everyone can deal with the smell or the mess it makes. When you want to reuse your food waste and plant material by composting, having a compostumbler or other closed container will rid you of the odor and turn your waste into a healthy soil conditioner faster than an open pile could do.
A compost container is anything that wll hold compost materials. These container can be so small that you keep them on your counter top or so large that you can make two batches of compost for a big yard. The small one for your kitchen is a terrific idea because you can keep a few days worth of scraps in it before dumping it into your compost heap. These come with filters so you will not have any odors inside either.
With a compost container outside you will not have to worry about animals coming and digging into your decomposing material. They will not even be able to smell any food scraps that you have added. Even if they could smell the compost, the container has a latch on the lid so it will not come open.
The closed containers that you get for outside compost are on a stand up off the ground, this makes it very easy to turn. You will no longer have the aches and pains and possibly the doctors’ bills that come with mixing your humus pile every week. This is another savings.
When you have a compost container, you will be able to make your own fertilizer faster than if you leave it uncovered. The design of the compostumbler allows for the suns’ rays to be attracted to it so the material inside will heat up faster and decompose quicker.
You can even purchase a tumbler with two chambers, so while the material in one is breaking down you can start adding new waste mater to the other chamber. With this compost container, you will always have a fresh batch of a great soil conditioner coming out of one side of the compostumbler.
Using your own homemade fertilizer will save you money and it is the best thing you can add to your soil for healthy flower, plants and vegetables. The best way to make it is by using a compost container.
